Color Coding
Please note that the variables are color-coded according to their broad topic, as described in the first tab of the spreadsheet. For example, employment and wage variables are highlighted with a red background.
Variable Names
On the second tab ("dataset variable analysis"), you will encounter the raw names assigned to variables in the microdata files. For the full name of each variable, consult the third tab ("data variables") and search for the text string of interest from the second tab. You can also view all relevant variables in a given dataset of interest by using Microsoft Excel's filter function - simply de-select all and check the box for the dataset you'd like to examine.
Units
Note that some datasets contain variables on both individuals and training providers, such as the WIOA PIRL. Where necessary to reduce ambiguity, in the "unit" column of the "data variables" tab we indicate the unit of analysis associated with a variable.
