Inez von Weitershausen conducts research on the prerequisites for and dynamics of cooperation. She has worked with a large number of actors and institutions, including national governments, international organizations, and businesses, to understand what makes for successful cooperation and best practices in areas as diverse as crisis management, development, and trade.

Her current work focuses on innovative models of cooperation in the realms of work and education. She is particularly interested in how individuals work with traditional and non-traditional education providers in preparing for the demands of a changing work place.

Before joining George Washington University, Inez was a postdoctoral research associate at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She helped to develop the research strategy of the Good Companies Good Jobs Initiative at the Institute for Work and Employment Research (IWER) and to produce the massive open online course “Shaping work of the Future”.

Her insights into work-based higher education and worker voice have informed MIT's Taskforce on the Work of the Future and been featured in courses at MIT Sloan, edX and the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Inez von Weitershausen holds a PhD in international crisis management from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a Masters in Law and Business from Bucerius Law school Hamburg and WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management and a Magistra Artium in Political Science, History and North-American Studies from Bonn University.  She was a visiting scholar at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris, Georgetown University, and Kalamazoo College, MI, and received fellowships from the German National Science Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
